Pavillion in the Garden
Built by Giant Containers, designed by AM/MOR - this project is a new build situated on the same property as a historic structure in Hamptons, NY. The design intent is to create a conversation between two buildings- both are the most efficient way to build for their time and are purposefully different to enhance this contrast. The Client asked for a 'pavilion in the garden', so we created a 'bedroom stack' and a 'living stack' connected by a stair hall.
The specific ask for this was a very efficient and fast building that meets the client's usual high standards. The stair hall includes a bay window made of insulated channel glass to remain private and pour light into the house, and a roof deck surrounded by planters that keeps the overall feel of the property very green. The large-format porcelain tile floors have radiant heat throughout and all the cabinetry will also be prefabricated to keep with the theme for efficiency. The new house is 'in town' and not in the woods or secluded, so we wanted to make sure it was a good neighbour as well as a unique and elegant pairing for the existing historic structure.
This project is currently going into production, but we'll be sure to keep you up to date on the progress of this modern container home.
